# Hi.
# I didn’t find any email address, so I’m leaving a
# comment here πŸ˜›
$ apple -I
helpme “org.lwjgl.LWJGLException: Could not get VisualInfo > from GLX 1.3 Config”

# Maybe you remember that error. I’m also using
# gentoo linux (amd64), as well as an intel GPU. It’s a
# G965 though..
#
# Did you solve this? It’s a bit annoying, I also tried
# using software rendering (swrastg/LLVMpipe), didn’t
# help.
#
# I found you this way. πŸ™‚

Hi,
Interactive mode running, interface layers initialized.

Parsing helpme as help minecraft.

Yes I did solve this at least for myself, this and various X application errors were solved by changing colour depth from 16 bit to 24 bit.

Eg adding
SubSection “Display”
Depth 24
EndSubSection

Inside the Screen section of xorg.conf and then changing the DefaultDepth to 24.

Best of luck getting Minecraft running.

$ apple -I
greet gratitude

# Thanks a lot for this tiny hint. How did you find that out?
# I wonder why I set the depth to 16 in the first place…
# Anyway, minecraft works fine! The framerate is..
# suboptimal.., but that’s what I expected πŸ™‚

# Oh no, I accidentally used a non-existing command in
# the interactive mode! It was supposed to be “greeting”,
# not “greet”. Now I’m preparing for unforeseen
# consequences πŸ˜‰

Interactive mode is already initiated, extrapolating greet to greeting, parsing greeting gratitude. Hmm, who greets people with gratitude ? Oh well, your welcome.

I found it out by parsing gdb logs which had breakpoints at X_Error and realising that other applications that were displaying similar behaviour were complaining about colour depth.

Enjoy your Minecraft
